The Williamsville Family Support Center is pleased to offer a new workshop opportunity for parents, guardians, and caregivers this spring focused on supporting children who experience anxiety.
We will be hosting an introductory session for the SPACE program (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions) on Thursday, March 26 from 5:30-7:00 PM at Mill Middle School. This session will provide an overview of the SPACE approach and give parents a preview of strategies that can help support children who struggle with anxiety at home, in school, and in social settings.
SPACE is an evidence-based parent program that helps caregivers learn how to respond effectively to their child's anxiety. The program focuses on empowering parents to make small but meaningful changes in how they respond to anxious behaviors, helping children build confidence and resilience over time. These strategies can support children in navigating everyday challenges such as school attendance, academic expectations, and social interactions with peers.
During the introductory session, families will:
Learn about the SPACE model and how it supports children experiencing anxiety
Hear from a certified SPACE therapist who will facilitate the program
Connect with other parents and caregivers facing similar challenges
Walk away with practical strategies you can begin using right away to support your child at home and at school
For families interested in continuing, a 7-week virtual SPACE parent group will be offered from April through May. The group will provide more in-depth guidance and a supportive community for parents working to help their children manage anxiety and increase their comfort and participation in school and daily activities. The program can be especially helpful for families whose children sometimes feel overwhelmed by school or other expectations.
We hope you will join us for this opportunity! You can RSVP here.
